An extraordinary collection of original paintings spanning over two decades of artistic excellence. Each masterpiece reflects Amy's distinguished vision, capturing the refined essence of American life with exceptional technique and profound artistic sensitivity.
"Beach memories with Mom and Dad"
This piece depicts my parents chatting on the beach in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Dad is in his typical shorts, polo shirt and Docksider shoes (no bathing suit!), drinking a Diet Coke (his favorite beverage). Mom is chilling with her feet in the sand. I have so many great memories of family time on the beach.
"Sadie’s Favorite Hangout Spot"
Sadie, my fun little Schnoodle, is relaxing on the sofa. She is always up for an adventure and then is ready to come back and hang out. She is such great company!
"Cody on the Tennis Court"
Cody, my sister’s and brother-in-law’s golden retriever, was taking in the activity and was enjoying watching my sister practice her tennis serve. He was quite happy to chase any errant balls.
This painting was part of a series I did on the family dogs.
"Late afternoon at the beach"
This painting is of a beach in Hilton Head, South Carolina, in the late afternoon when most people had left for the day. The sand dunes and lush beach grass create a welcome entry way to the beach. The boats on the water are calming and peaceful. It is my favorite time of day at the beach.
"Lowcountry Marsh Scene"
This oil painting is of a Lowcountry marsh scene. The sun is setting over the water, casting light. A herend sits by, taking in the scene and looking for dinner.
"A Lowcountry Bungalow"
This painting is of my sister’s and brother-in-law’s house, which is very near my house in Daniel Island, South Carolina. The house is a charming, lowcountry style bungalow. The lush landscaping and the American flag add to the charm and character of this great house.
"Bella in Motion"
This is Bella, our family’s little joy, enjoying her favorite game of fetch. Her playful energy shines through as she runs across the vibrant grass with her ball. I wanted to capture her bright spirit and the happiness she brings to our lives daily.
"Finn on the Dock"
This is a painting of Finn, my sister’s and brother-in-law’s current golden retriever. He has the most expressive face and I tried to capture the way he likes to raise his eyebrows when he looks at you. He is such a great dog!
"Murphy"
This is a painting of Murphy, my sister’s Shih Tzu. He is so friendly and loves to meet new people, especially those that pay him lots of attention. Children love Murphy and he gets lots of petting and love when going out on walks.
"Lennon"
Meet Lennon - my nephew Mike’s constant companion. This was one of my very first paintings! I tried to capture Lennon’s spirit and the way he likes to stick that long tongue out when he is happy. He is a great dog.
"Pumpkins"
This painting is done in acrylics on canvas board. The pumpkins are captured on a ledge. I was learning to create shadows based on the angle of the light. It was super fun!
"Bethany Beach Water Tower"
This is a watercolor pencil image of the iconic Bethany Beach water tower from the 1970s and is a great family memory. We knew we were almost to the beach house when we saw the water tower. There was a contest to see who could see it first!
"Bethany Beach - “The Beachhouse”"
This is a watercolor pencil image of the family beach house in Bethany Beach. Sadie is standing at attention on the first floor, waiting for someone to come back to the house. Our family could often be found on the deck at cocktail hour. I have many great memories of being at this house.
"Ocean Waves"
This serene painting is an acrylic ocean scene. The waves are crashing on the beach and creating sea foam.
"Watercolor pencil practice"
Practicing with my watercolor pencils, making various shapes and images. The paper clamp was particularly fun, as was the lemon. You don’t realize how many shades of yellow there are until you try to draw one!
"Bird on a Branch"
This was part of a watercolor series. It shows a little bird, resting on a branch.
"Three Cats"
This whimsical watercolor shows three unique cats.
"Chicken"
This lively chicken, full of character, captures the rustic beauty of the farmyard. Its warm tones and lively expression bring a touch of country life to the canvas.
"Three Dogs"
The three dogs are quirky and fun. This white dog was an exercise to learn how to paint with the “absence of paint”, by painting the image around the background.
"Duck"
This duck, with its vibrant green head and bright orange feet, is a cheerful reminder of the simple delights found by the water’s edge.
"Frog"
Smiling and serene, this little frog seems content in his own world. His playful expression invites us to pause and enjoy life’s lighter moments.
"Rabbit"
This rabbit, leaping with energy, reflects both gentleness and vitality. Its movement captures the spirit of springtime and renewal.
"Turtle"
Steady and strong, this turtle moves with quiet determination. Its patterned shell reflects the beauty of nature’s design and the wisdom of patience.
"Whale"
This graceful whale gliding through the water conveys both strength and tranquility. Its calm presence mirrors the vastness and serenity of the ocean.
Each painting in this distinguished collection represents Amy Justis's commitment to capturing the finest moments of American life with exceptional artistry. From intimate family scenes to grand landscapes, every work reflects her sophisticated vision and masterful technique.
